April 2006

In early April we got our first look of Mom sitting on the nest. We took these pictures from the roof of the building with a 600mm lens on a Canon Rebel XT on a Slik 444 Sport Tripod. Mom didn't seem bothered by our presence, and Dad sat on an antenna about 100 yards away across the plaza.

The male hawk regularly brings meals to the nest for Mom. He also took his turns sitting on the egg. Red-tailed Hawks mate for life and share the incubation duties.

On April 28th, we got our first look at the fledgling, believed born in the last 24 hours.

Mom was feeding junior, but he couldn't resist a peek at us.
